Seeing a moose in northern Minnesota was fairly common not that long ago. But today, moose have virtually disappeared from northwestern Minnesota, and they have declined by nearly 70% since 2006 in northeastern Minnesota. Can we save them?
Your gifts to the 2014 Fund-A-Need will provide financial support to the Zoo’s conservation efforts to help determine what is causing this horrific decline in our moose population, as well as other conservation activities both here at home and around the world. We are working in Minnesota to prevent the extinction of highly-imperiled prairie butterflies and to manage a bison herd that is free of cattle genes at Blue Mounds State Park. And, we are in Namibia to protect endangered black rhinos and in Mongolia to preserve the Asian Wild Horse. Your gifts tonight are critical to each of these efforts.
Saving our world’s wildlife can start with one person, but it will take all of us working together to ensure that the next generation will be able to see these extraordinary animals for many years to come. Thank you for your support.
